Bobby Hull does not get the respect he ought to. Anybody that has actually watched hockey ranks The Golden Jet among the truly greatest players of all time. Beyond fast, powerful and--on the ice--very intelligent. I met Bobby a handful of times in casual settings. One of the most genuine and funny people you could find. It was as if hockey was something he was bor
I didn't like Jagr. His hair bugged me and I didn't want to like a Penguin. Truth is, he wore me down. He was just relentless and I came to admire him a great deal. "The Ageless Wonder", indeed. I chose this photo because it's his first in uniform--without wearing a tie underneath the sweater. I also didn't clean it too much after I painted it. I was going for a classic Leaf-loo
Man, I thought they'd never lose. This card was part of a set I did in 2020 that appeared at auction in the Summer of '23. The cards sold so poorly, I retired them almost immediately. 120 hours of work--gone! What's left are a handful of cards that captured the spirit of the set. Bossy was SO good for 4-5 years it felt like he and his team were unbeatable. There are
A.K.A. "Mr. Goalie"
The great Glenn Hall. Card number 15 in our 32-card "Giant Hockey" set. The edition size of this card is 12.
One of our "Original Six" set, the group features one player from each of the original 6 hockey clubs that debuted after 1954. The Orr is a popular card in the set. It has sold at auction for as much as 200USD. The edition size of this card is 10.
This is our "rookie" card of "Mr. Hockey". It will be available in 2023. There will be 8 focused versions (shown here) and 4 that are reminiscent of the 1948-1949 Leaf cards one might have pulled from a pack that are slightly out of register for a complete authentic vibe.
Bill Reay is credited as the first player to raise his arms and stick after a goal. Oddly, at the time, it was not well received by the crowd and sportswriters took a negative view of the theatrics.
During his tenure with the Black Hawks, Alex is credited with having begun the tradition of the hat trick. During the '45-'46 season he entered a shop in Toronto looking for a new hat. Without enough money to buy one, he reached an agreement with shop owner, Sam Taft, that if he scored three goals that night in a game against the Maple Leafs, he would earn a free ha
Beautiful Lord Lake Cabinet card that measures 5 3/8" x 8" . Featuring Ted Lindsay, Gordie Howe and ALex Delvecchio sharing victory cigars!
The Rocket circa 1955. Very few '55 series have been made. This is one of the nicest.
These '52 Bowman Style cards are so nice. Hand Painted with a light gloss on vintage stock.
We used this image on another card years ago, but it was PERFECT for this '52 Bowman issue. Stunning clarity.
A very overlooked star of the 1960's, this is our "rookie" offering of Keon. As you might know, the Topps company didn't have any Toronto or Montreal players in their beautiful 1961 set. We have a handful of each team in our inventory. Toronto has a sepia-orange backdrop whiule Montreal emerald.
The missing 1960 Gordie Howe! One of our favorite hockey sets of all time, the lack of Wings is disappointing no more! This card debuted in our 2022 annual Christmas Auction and will likely only appear in Holiday listings. It's gorgeous!
One of the most sought-after subjects in all of hockey cards, Morenz lacks pretty cards! This one is mounted to 90 year-old paper and coated with beautiful crackling soft gloss. It's a beauty the size of a '33 Goudey Gum card.
Before he hit the "Windy City" and became "The Golden Jet", Bobby Hull was the behemoth of St. Catherine's hockey club. This our pre-rookie account of Bobby...odd seeing him in anything but red and black!
Another beautiful rendering of an overlooked player. From 1930-1935 he made the Leafs go. He led the league in assists 3 times and was a true gentleman.
An 8-time all star and 4-time Hart Memorial recipient, Shore was among the first superstars of ice hockey. This is one of our favorite cards. It generally sells between 60-100USD at auction but the edition of 12 is half gone!
A pure scorer and monster on the powerplay. Dionne was one of the game's biggest stars and attractions in the 70's. He's facing off here "52 Style"!
The great Vezina opened our Royal Hockey, 3-series set back in 2019. The set is still in production today as we are just halfway through series 2. Each series contains 8 cards from different eras. This is the "with stick" variation as there is also a portrait of Georges that shares the card #1 spot.
With Toronto out of the '62 Topps loop, Phil worked this one up this fall. What a remarkable player Frank was. The top rookie in '57 would become a 9-time all star in a career than spanned three decades!
The "Pembroke Peach" was a dazzling puck handler and passer that could outskate most of his time. He used his checking abilities to become a defenseman of legend. Pictured here with Vancouver the year before he joined Ottawa. He is one of the last 60-minute hockey players in history.
One of the all-time greats shown here in '54 Topps format as the Canadien representative in Banty Red's Original 6 set.
This card edition size is just 4. It sold for 195USD in 2020 and hasn't been available since. The "Little Giant" was about 140 pounds but never backed down from physical play and helped the Habs to 3 Stanley Cups!
This is one of our favorite cards in the '52 styled "Giant Hockey" compilation. A stellar winger in his time, Johnny retired as the game's 4th all-time scorer.
It would surprise the average collector just how difficult it is to find an original photo negative of Beantown's finest goal tender without famous mask!
We're all grateful they didn't call him "Francis". "King" seems a more fitting moniker for a 4-time all league performer that won 3 Stanley Cups championships.
Thompson missed ONE game between 1928-1939. A four-time Vezina Award winner and one of the game's all-time greatest between the pipes!
Lightning quick and a magician with the puck, the younger brother of Maurice was one of the game's greatest of his time. "Pocket Rocket" is one of the most well-fitted and colorful nicknames in all of sport.
An early power folrward, Conacher was nicknamed "The Big Bomber," for his size, powerful shot and goal scoring. He led the NHL five times in goals, and twice led in overall scoring. Over five seasons from 1931-32 to 1935-36 Conacher was named to three NHL All-Star First Teams!
Howe played in the NHL from 1929 to 1946primarily with the Red Wings where he would enjoy his greatest personal and team successes. One of the leading scorers of his era, Syd Howe was a part of three Stanley Cup championships with the Red Wings.
"The Great One" exploded on the scene and pushed the game to the mainstream unlike any player before or since. A highly prized prospect, Gretzky re-wrote the record books beginning with claiming the league's Hart Memorial and Lady Byng Awards in his first season. There are only 6 of these cards produced.
The Bruins stars of 1934 are featured on this "Frozen Pond" series horizontal beauty. One of the prettiest hockey offerings from Banty Red. There are 8 of these made and will release in 2023!
Young gun in goal. St. Patrick as rookie. This was painted twice. There is a version with a blue background and lighter hair. Roy was the best I ever saw.
I have collected Russian hockey of all kinds since about 1976. This year (2024) Banty Red Invasion! Dozens of Soviet stars between 1950-1990. This card is just so cool.
Here's the man that had the first assist in franchise history! He is also credited, among others, as the initiator of the "slap" shot and the drop pass.
Frederick Joseph "Bun" Cook.
Another great Russian player, Mishakov is show competing in the 1972 Summit Series. Banty Red has compiled a set of 8 cards commemorating what, for many, is one of the greatest pure competitions in history. We hope to do a total of 16 cards, but are currently working on rights for images held currently in only Russia.
Unheralded star everywhere but in Beantown. The lefty centre was named captain in 1951. Schmidt won the Hart Trophy as the league's most valuable player that year.
Spelled "Trtyak" in Russian press, the Americans spell him "Tretiak". However you spell it, he meant doomsday in the net for even the games most gifted players. Tretiak became internationally famous after his outstanding performance in the Summit Series in 1972. Of the entire Soviet roster, Canadian players and fans held Tretiak in the highest regard and respect and Tret
Norm was one of the finest players of his era. Shown here on his "Lost" '61 issue. Topps didn't make any Canadiens or Wings--among others.
Lots of R319-styled hockey coming in 2024. A dozen new offerings--here's one of them that will debut Christmas 2023!
One of the greatest hockey players of all time. Fast, physical and determined to win at all cost. Starshinov played in the Soviet Hockey League for HC Spartak Moscow, scoring 405 goals in 540 league games. He led the league in goals in 1966-67, 1967–68, and 1968–69. Starshinov also scored 149 goals in 182 international games with the Soviet national team, and was nam
